| Passive: | Typically used in single-ended SCSI-1 and slower SCSI-2 applications. |
| Active: | Typically used in fast single-ended SCSI-2 applications. |
| FPT: | Typically used in fast single-ended SCSI-2 applications with noise problems, Long cable lengths or complex bus configurations. |
| Differential: | Only used in high voltage differential SCSI applications. |
| Active Negated: | Can be used in any single-ended application but is specifically designed for 'Ultra' SCSI applications. |
| Modulated: | Typically used in low voltage differential (LVD) applications |
